Nkisi Nkondi spiritual statue of Bakongo traditions

At Munanzo Kota Lima Temple of Nkisi Malongo our mission is to remind the world of our ancestral traditional religion, create a community holding core values including mutual aid and to provide various spiritual services to our community.

The traditional religion of Nkisi Malongo is one that has been largely lost to the world, this temples aim is to create access to this traditional religion and sharing this ancestral religion with the modern world. The best way to achieve this sharing of the traditional religion was establishing a non-profit religious organization where not all may be called to priesthood but all can partake. In this way, the traditional religion is kept alive and is returned to all those of which seek it in their lives while not interfering with those who do not, reminding the world of our traditional religion.

Historically, our Bakongo ancestors founded “Cabildo” organizations, which are councils. These councils were created in order to create community that is heavily focused on mutual aid of one another. These councils serve as the inspiration to our modern temple, we too aim to create community of mutual aid. Our community is one of love and understanding, where all might not be called to priesthood but all can be loved equally without need of special permissions or practicing of other religious beliefs.

Providing spiritual services to our community is our day-to-day order of business and backbone. The creation of our community, the core values we hold, the traditional religious beliefs all lead to the love of our community and providing the necessary spiritual services in order to further their progress. The spiritual services include from something as simple as having someone to talk to all the way up to ceremonial rites done in order to elevate ones own spiritual connection to the ancestors that came before us and everything in between.

There are also many fallacies about this traditional religion created by other religions and their members specifically to unjustly demonize and persecute this traditional religion and its members, we seek to dispel all of these fallacies with wisdom and history on every front, at all times.

While our Traditional Religion is largely oral, there is so much rich history to be explored.
